Sword of Mercy
By Doug Phillips
Some families inherit fortunes. Others inherit curses.
Newlyweds Peter and Angie West should be enjoying the adventure of a lifetime—a honeymoon across Canada followed by a journey into Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
But Peter carries something with him.
A family curse.
He is heir to a mining fortune built during the brutal working conditions of the nineteenth century.
His father and grandfather both died violently.
And Peter sees ghosts.
Hoping to finally confront his fears, Peter follows his hypnotherapist's unusual advice and heads toward an abandoned family mining site near Houghton, Michigan.
The closer he gets, the worse the visions become.
Then Peter makes a terrifying discovery.
There aren't just ghosts following him. There are two groups of spirits—and they want very different things from him.
Meanwhile, his dying hypnotherapist is racing toward Michigan with a private investigator, desperate to reach Peter before he enters the mine.
Because whatever is waiting underground may have nothing to do with therapy.
Sword of Mercy by Doug Phillips is a supernatural thriller blending psychological suspense, family secrets, faith, restless spirits, and the dark history of America's mining industry.
Can you escape a family curse when the dead are determined to collect what they're owed?
